Unique Project Alert - Demolition - Decomposed Granite

Sarah Strader

Unique Project Alert!

  1. The project is unique for several reason.  This property belongs to the City of Los Angeles
  2.  It resides between 2 private residences. With all the rainfall the land was eroding and sliding into the property below.

What we did.... the long and the short of it.

We sunk poles into the ground, then we attached beams to the poles, and constructed tiers which scaling the hillside.  We then compacted the dirt to the City's specifications.

We needed to add additional dirt to the hill side. Carrying 200 additional bags of decomposed granite weighing about 70lbs each, up the hillside (by hand and backpack harness).

All of the decomposed granite needed to be compacted, covered with and anti erosion net constructed from jute.

So now the property below is safe and sound.

Coffee, Pastries, and Broken Glass.

Sarah Strader

Coffee, Pastries, and Broken Glass. Not the most sought after combination at your local coffee shop. Its not on the regular menu here either. Someone else thought that it should be on the midnight specials menu. Since the Long Beach police and the owner disagree with the new menu addition, we get the call to be on site and board up the door and clean up the glass. We do everything that we can to prevent additional damage to the door frame and securing the business simultaneously. This allows the business owner to continue running day-to-day operations and schedule repairs.

Break-in and no ones home?

Sarah Strader

What happens when no-one is home and you have a break-in? What happens is someone calls the poliece or your alarm company calls. Then the 911 dispatch calls us, as we run a 24/7/365 emergency board-up.  We get called out for a varity of projects. Large and small - we do it all.

We are honored to work along side our men and women of service that keep our cities safe.

Golden Globe

Sarah Strader

This special project was completed in Northern California, for Caltrans. Honestly we had a lot of fun. Although, it looks like we dug a simple hole and put a flag pole inside. Well, we did. However to make a project look this easy many behind the senses steps have to be coordinated. Such as: a dig alert to notate any exiting gas, water or electrical prior to breaking ground. The coordination of the crane operator to hoist the pole, prepping for the concrete, the framework. All of these steps take leg work and planning to go without a hitch.
